Get to know Ki

‘kinetic’, from the Ancient Greek, kinētikós, meaning the ‘one who puts in motion’

Our story

Trust is the belief in, and reliance upon, the integrity and ability of one another. Read the story of Ki, as told by co-founder, Michael...

The beginning.

I met David through a mutual friend in our first week of high school. We generally did things a little differently to the other kids. While they played in the park, smashed PlayStation controllers and chased girls – we spent our time thinking up pranks, creating videos and inherently building life skills.

Of course, we still chased girls once in a while!

Facebook post.

Having completed my college course months earlier than my classmates, I turned to Facebook to find pocket money. David was the first to respond and hooked me up with a job at digital marketing agency, Greenlight.

We both learned the ropes of online marketing, whilst building websites out-of-hours and harvesting vital knowledge in all areas of running a digital business.

Getting into business.

We talked business. It wasn’t part of our life plans to help clients realise their business dreams ‒ we wanted to be on the other side and experience our own success. Realising there was a gap in the gambling niche, we grabbed at the opportunity.

David’s idea became my playground, expanding and developing with his concept. In October 2010 Right Casino Media was formed.

Right Casino Media.

The concept was to build affiliate websites, rank them in Google and reap the rewards ‒ which we did. However, over the first two years we realised that we could and should, be better. We split our roles and nurtured our talents.

David developed into the commercial expert: devising and overseeing financial and organisational strategy. I became the creative leader: refining ideas, focusing on product and delivering the ultimate user experience.

We reinvented the company, borrowing from sectors including insurance, retail and travel, and launched rightcasino.com. It is now the largest and most intelligent product in the gambling affiliate industry, and remains the most advanced engine of its kind.

Achieving dreams.

Feeling accomplished within Right Casino Media, I sold my stake in the business and decided to pursue my dream of travelling the world, ticking off important bucket list items, exercising my creative mind and generally ‘waking up’.

David continued striving for further success and drove Right Casino Media to new heights, exiting through a multi-million-pound acquisition by Catena Media.

Ki formation.

We re-joined paths as different people over a year down the line. I had experienced the world and learned what made me tick as a person. David had further developed as a businessperson, accomplishing the goals he set out to reach when I left.

We both have a passion for digital start-ups and still had the urge to create. We have been through the highs and lows several times and know we have much to contribute. We decided the best route forwards was to invest in companies, partnering with other hungry individuals and teams like us.

After much discussion, debate and handshaking, Ki was formed.

Today.

Ki is invested in several companies and has the team and infrastructure essential to achieving our goals. What’s more, we’re always looking for the next big opportunity to grow.

Now that you know us, continue reading to see if we’re on the same wavelength.

What we believe in

In everything we do, we aim to enrich lives.

When David and I came up with Ki, we wanted to ensure our company values were a reflection of our five personal ethics. If these are values that you share, we’re probably a good match.

People need people
Problems are opportunities
Happiness in pursuit
Never stop learning
Do what you love
People need people
Everyone needs someone. In business as in life, through good times and bad people bring the best out of one another. Ki has the ethos of cooperation in its DNA. We began with two friends working from home and teamwork has always been the critical element of our success.

Interpersonal relationships are key to doing business. From the handshake that secures the deal, to the celebrations when plans come together successfully. It all counts for nothing without the right people. Whether it’s celebrating the spoils of victory or lending support at a low point, we know that relationships ultimately shape the future; building companies, products, and lives we can all be proud of.
Problems are opportunities
Success is rarely simple: often we must overcome many obstacles on the road to triumph. Life is full of headaches, setbacks and frustrations, from major upheavals to the petty annoyances of broken screens and faulty apps. At Ki we understand and sympathise with this, instead we prefer to see such problems as opportunities. Rather than letting adversity get us down, we take the opportunity to flex our creative muscles and overcome these challenges. With every problem comes another opportunity.
Happiness in pursuit
There is much satisfaction in seeing a project wrap-up, but the journey to completion is its own gift. At Ki we appreciate every step of the journey, not just the exit. Running a company is a voyage on rough seas in pursuit of riches, made up of high seas and low tides, celebrations and sleepless nights. When we finally moor at our destination and reach our goal, it’s not the treasure that brings fulfilment, but knowing that we found the strength to get there. There is a twisted beauty to this expedition, and it spans our whole lives.
Never stop learning
Education plays a massive part in all of our lives, from the lessons we’re taught in school, to the personal and professional skills we obtain in the workplace. All of the team members at Ki have exacting personal standards and an unquenchable enthusiasm for self-improvement. An appetite for knowledge and development is a wonderful thing and as we are constantly evolve, we want to continually encourage the desire to learn. The idea that one has ‘nothing left to learn’ is anathema to our way of thinking. We have the desire to learn, and so should you.
Do what you love
Most of all, do what you want to do. Be yourself. You spend the majority of your waking life in the workplace, so it’s important that you strive to enjoy it! Everything we do, see, hear and feel is an experience: when you walk into a work, sit in your chair or head off for an important meeting. We don’t believe corporatism is essential to succeeding in business, we believe in staying true to our identity. If you’re not satisfied with what you’re doing, you will not be happy ‒ and neither will those around you.
Our team

The ones who make it happen.

Each individual contributes to perfecting experiences across platforms, enhancing processes to run efficiently, tweaking campaigns to maximise ROI, and to generally scaling growth. As a team, we proceed as one towards the overall success and vision of Ki companies.
